New routes in pellet production

While the wood materials industry, wood-burning power stations and the pellet industry argue over the increasingly valuable raw material, wood, the pellet producers have decided to pursue a differnet route. Roundwood which cannot be directly recycled is barked and cut into short lenghts. This roundwood frequently contains metal chips and is therefore unsuitable for use with chipping knives. For this reason, companies such as German Pellets have chosen a Vecoplan shredding machine (VAZ) with HiTorc drive for the shredding of short lengths. The first VAZ 2500 MFT will shortly prove its reliabilty and performance in Wismar and the second in Ettenheim. Waste material from the bark stripper and butt reducer, as well as raw bark from other sawmills, will in future be processed into industry pellets. In Ettenheim and Wismar, vibrating conveyors are used for wheel loading to give ideal processing. Separation of iron and heavy materials is carried out at the first screening station. Coarse bark larger than approx. 80 mm is fed directly into the VAZ 2500 shredder after the disc screen. the other material flow is screened again using an oscillation screen in three parts, although the 0-10 mm part is completely removed from further processing. The middle part of approx. 10-30 mm can be sent for drying without any further shredding. The course material is shredded once more. All dryable material has any mineral parts removed in the 'fine screening' after going through the dryer, so that wearing in subsequent pelleting and the ash content of the pellets can be kept to a minimum. Vecoplan shredding, conveying and storage technology has been in operation for years in many other pellet plants, such as Westerwälder Holz Pellets, Bioenergie Mudau and Energie Pellets Oberhonnefeld. |
