Vecoplan Introduces VH-Series Horizontal Granulators
Archdale, NC / November 7, 2005
Vecoplan has just announced their latest innovation in size reduction technology; a line of horizontal-feed granulators and shredders for lineal scrap such as profile extrusions, small diameter pipe and PVC siding. "After three years of extensive field trials, this seriously needed line of equipment is ready for market", states Len Beusse, Chief Operating Officer of Vecoplan, LLC based in Archdale, NC. "While other horizontal granulators have been available for some time, the unique design and flexibility of the Vecoplan VH-Series has improved on technical performance, and is much more economical then competitive predecessors", says Beusse. The VH-Series family contains fourteen different models, ranging from 40 HP to 200 HP. Infeed widths range from 18" to 32". Larger custom models are available in some styles. Each machine comes complete with a pre-wired control panel and 16' L vibration conveyor for infeed of the feedstock. Multiple feed rollers grip material coming from the conveyor and advance the material into the cutting rotor. The feed rate is determined by the amperage load that processing places on the cutting rotor, which in turn sends a signal to both the conveyor and the feed rollers or adjustment of the feed rate. Particle size is determined by a sizing screen similar to conventional granulators.
The VH-Series Granulators are produced with a choice of cutting rotor designs. All fourteen granulator models are available with a precision granulator rotor in 2-4-knife configurations in a moderately open design. The granulator turns at moderate RPM and utilizes sharp knives similar to conventional granulator blades. A unique clamping system secures the knives in place and affords many sharpening intervals. When a small and uniform granulate is needed, the granulator rotor is suggested. If a larger and rougher particle size is acceptable, many of the VH-Series models can be supplied with the patented TorsionPoint shredding rotor. Vecoplan has used this rotor in its vertical feed shredders since 1983 and is the preferred shredding method used in the plastics industry today.
"While durability and extremely low maintenance are highly valuable benefits of the VH-Series, they pale in comparison to the performance it delivers. The unique design and resulting efficiencies contribute to both a lower purchase price and lower subsequent operating costs as well. These are the advantages of the VH-Series, and why we predict it will be extremely well received", Beusse comments.
The VH-Series Horizontal Granulator by Vecoplan will be exhibited at NPE in 2006.
